The Swapo Party Women’s Council has given an award to the President of the Pan Africa Women’s Organisation (PAWO) for her contribution towards Namibia’s liberation struggle.
PAWO is a continental women’s organisation that was founded in Conakry, Guinea in 1962 to bring all African women’s organisations under one body, to collectively fight for the emancipation of African women and the liberation of African states.

Madame Assetou Koite, a Senegalese national, was bestowed with the award during the Swapo Party Women’s Council Congress held in Keetmanshoop in 2016 but could not attend.
Giving the award Swapo Party Women’s Council Secretary Eunice Iipinge said Koite was instrumental in assisting Namibian women during the liberation struggle.
